There is a perception that headhunting is elitist, positioned for C suite roles and expensive, leading to a sense of entitlement and privilege. Susan of Radial Recruitment was able to take the lid off those perceptions explaining how the process can be for roles at all levels and in all sorts of functions and types of organisations. It is a process of truly understanding the role, what is going to make a difference and aligning values which is achieved through thorough research and discovery. Finding possible matches involves extensive use of networks, social media presence and knowing the market place. The benefit for the employer is finding a motivated candidate with the skills, experience and cultural fit without the burden of a laborious selection process and for the candidate, they will find a role that otherwise is not visible and could well be the right move for career aspirations.
So if you are looking for an alternative to the “advertising” routes, headhunting could be an option. First step is to find a head hunter who specialises in your sector and understands the type of role and then talk to them about their approach, way of working and expected results. It is worth taking the time to find the right partner as they will be representing your business and brand, talking to possible employees on your behalf. It is not all about executive search and in certain sectors it is an expected approach.
