Tell us a little about yourself and your career journey

I have always had a keen interest in understanding the world of work and what brings people together for the common good. There’s no surprise, then, that I have worked in HR for over 20 years across a range of sectors and organisations. I am naturally very curious and enjoy every opportunity to continue learning and developing. That curiosity led me back to university to complete a master’s degree in business psychology, which deepened my interest in people, behaviours and work, and how these can be combined effectively. Since then, I’ve spent more time in roles that enable one-to-one coaching and group facilitation, support in cultural development, engagement of colleagues, improvement in team effectiveness and the development of effective learning programmes.

What attracted you to Gravitate HR?

Gravitate HR has a strong network across the Scottish market, but what sets it apart is the breadth of expertise within the team and the confidence in the knowledge and skill each person brings to every client. For an organisation of its size, Gravitate HR is hugely flexible, open and ready to explore any challenge, issue or task thoroughly to provide the best solution. Community and collaboration are two key strengths that have stood out to me from my initial engagement with Gravitate HR through to becoming part of the team.

What does your new role as Client Experience Manager involve?

At Gravitate HR, we pride ourselves on always delivering quality advice and guidance. My role brings those elements together by creating and evolving client relationships, while also supporting and developing the team to be at its best.

I love that I get to spend time networking and developing relationships, both internally and externally. This role enables me to bring my passion for learning and development to the fore, along with a large dose of collaboration, creating the best outcome for individuals and teams.

What stands out to you about Gravitate’s approach to working with clients?

What I’ve discovered through my interactions so far is the warmth in the discussions and the team’s strong desire to create pragmatic outcomes for clients. To be able to deliver on this there needs to be a strong relationship built and quite often that needs to be built very quickly depending on the particular challenge at hand. Gravitate HR puts people at ease from the outset by building that initial connection, gaining key insights and continuing to collaborate closely throughout the process. This helps support a positive outcome for everyone involved, no matter how sensitive the issue may be.

What’s your favourite way to spend a day away from work?

This is a difficult one, as I love doing so many things. With a young family of two boys, a dog and the recent addition of some Indian runner ducks, there is never a quiet moment between various walks, sporting and musical activities whilst ensuring everyone is fed and watered in-between! If I were indulging in a day away from work for myself, though, I would be found roaming in the gloaming after a long day in the hills admiring nature at its best.

Gravitate HR Consultancy provides HR Services throughout Scotland.
