Amy joined the Gravitate HR team in March 2026 and in this blog she talks about her experience, her first impressions of the team (it’s positive) and what she loves about working in HR:

A Curious Mind

Curiosity (noun)

1. A desire to know or learn.

2. A desire to know about people or things.

A word with a simple definition that captures who I am as person; eager to learn, discover and experience.

Having always been intrigued by the inner workings of society, the human mind and behaviours, I decided to study Psychology and Sociology at University, earning myself a 2:1 Joint Honours, Master of Arts Degree.

Why I Chose a Career in HR

A career in HR is something I have always wanted to pursue as believe it is an important part of any organisation – focusing on people and helping to promote a successful business. I am very interested in wellbeing, organisational culture and helping to assist with creating/ maintaining a healthy and productive work environment.

With over a decade of experience in administrative / customer service roles, I have a varied background from working as a Barista part time to support my university studies to being a Logistics Co-Ordinator.

Joining the Gravitate HR Team

I was drawn to the role with Gravitate due to the opportunity to begin a career in an HR role with which I believe my previous skills and experience could be successfully transferred, working with a range of clients from different industries.

One of the main reasons I was drawn to the role was the values shown by Gravitate; I could sense it was a great place to work and seemed like a really positive team culture and environment.

I know this now to be 100% true – my first week, I was supported by the whole team and made to feel so welcomed!

Coupled with the opportunity to work with people and supporting business goals, I knew this was the role for me.

The team have a wealth of knowledge and have been great in helping me with my training.

It has been really exciting learning a whole host of new things – especially the updated Employee Rights Act 2025.

Having the opportunity to support the team is very rewarding and I look forward to continuing my training and learning even more/ gaining new experiences.

Life Outside of Work

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and currently love completing Paint By Numbers. I am a big fan of the New York Times Crossword and try to activate my brain every morning by completing this before 9am!
