Eden joined the Gravitate HR team in March 2025 and in this blog she talks about her big move from Australia to Scotland and what she loves about working in HR.
As a HR professional, we’re quite used to navigating change, but relocating from Australia to Glasgow and swapping the sunny, 28-degree weather for unpredictable rain, cold (freezing) winds, and layers of clothing? That’s been a whole new kind of adjustment, especially when it comes to my wardrobe.
One minute, I’m soaking up the Aussie sunshine, and the next, I’m braving wind and rain, coming from all directions, all whilst watching the locals take it in their stride. But honestly, I have no one to blame but myself – and right now, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Not to brag, but my move to Glasgow has been surprisingly smooth. While I’ve only been here a month, it’s already provided invaluable lessons in adjusting both professionally and personally to a new environment. With that being said, I am looking forward to taking the next step in my career by joining the Gravitate HR team as a HR Consultant.
Tell us about yourself, how did you get into HR and what brought you to Gravitate?
After completing my Bachelor of Professional Communications, Majoring in Human Resource Management in Australia, my first job out of university was as a HR Administrator in a Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing company. Although it came with its challenges, this role was the starting point for my HR career and sparked my passion for working with people. It provided me with lifelong mentors and taught me invaluable skills and fundamentals that have shaped my career ever since.
Since that role, my journey as a HR professional has continued to grow, allowing me to gain experience in managing change programs, handling complex HR processes, and supporting HR leaders along the way.
What do you enjoy about working in HR?
I enjoy working in HR because each day brings something new and different to the table and keeps me on my toes. I am passionate about working with people and having the opportunity to engage with a diverse group whilst making a meaningful impact on their careers by supporting their growth and development along the way.
