Jackie joined the Gravitate HR team in September 2025 and in this blog she talks about her experience and what she loves about working in HR.

What experience do you bring from your most recent role in Lloyds Banking Group?

With over 34 years at Lloyds Banking Group, I’ve held a wide range of roles, most recently as a Senior Manager within the People & Culture team. My career has given me deep, hands-on experience in HR not just in theory, but in real-life application, from managing high-performing teams and leading cultural change, to delivering practical people solutions at scale.

I partnered with senior leaders across the UK and internationally on large-scale organisational change, workforce planning, and transformation projects. I led several restructuring programmes that balanced cost efficiencies with strong colleague engagement. I also managed employee relations, introduced inclusive hiring strategies, and used HR technology and data to inform strategic decisions.

What I’ve valued most is building trusted relationships and helping leaders create inclusive, high-performing environments where people can thrive.

What attracted you to this consultancy and this role?

I was drawn to Gravitate HR for the opportunity to work more closely with a range of clients across different sectors, applying my HR experience in a more flexible and hands-on way.

Throughout my career, I’ve supported leaders across large, complex teams delivering everything from day-to-day HR advice to major change programmes. The issues I helped solve whether around people management, engagement, or team performance are just as relevant in smaller businesses.

What really appealed to me about Gravitate was the chance to get closer to the heart of the business to work directly with clients, understand their unique context, and help shape practical, tailored solutions. From my first conversations with the team, it was clear this is a people-first culture: collaborative, compassionate, and committed to making a real difference. It feels like the perfect fit.

How does this role allow you to use your strengths?

This role taps into what I do best building relationships, problem-solving, and adapting to different business needs. I enjoy getting to know people quickly and supporting them through challenges in a practical, results-focused way.

I bring a calm, solution-oriented mindset, grounded in years of operational and HR experience, and I thrive on variety and continuous learning. I’m also a big believer in teamwork and trust values that are truly lived at Gravitate.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outdoors helping run our farm in the Scottish Borders, out in my wellies with the sheep and cattle! I also love running, gym classes, baking, and spending time with family on the west coast.

I’ve recently completed my CIPD Level 5, and I’m always keen to keep learning, stay active, and enjoy the balance of work, people, and fun.

I’m looking forward to working with new clients and helping them unlock the full potential of their people.
