We don’t think there’s any room for mechanical ways of working. So we don’t employ script-readers, box-tickers or automatons. We have a team of experts.
There’s no good shouting about being different or claiming to have a different approach without actually standing out from the crowd. But we do stand out – with an approach that relies on both personality and ability.
We work hard to develop strong, long-lasting relationships with our clients. It’s not just about being friendly (though it helps). It’s about getting to know business needs and strategic goals. That starts on a personal level, with the kind of people you want to do business with. So our team offers more than understanding and insight – they’re also big on personality.

With more than 25 years’ experience in HR, Margery is a true industry leader in Scotland. Yet having pursued food science at first, it wasn’t always her ambition. Instead, she found her passion for Human Resources in her first role, with John Lewis in a graduate trainee programme. A series of HR positions in the retail sector followed, before she moved in consultancy work and, in 2006, established Gravitate.
As a hands-on owner and Managing Director, Margery plays an active role in the day-to-day delivery of our services – spending just as much time directly supporting our clients as she does leading the team.
Not content with leading a successful business, she’s also done well at the head of a thriving family – having raised three kids. Having discovered a real passion for fitness, she has a triathlon under her belt, and has just returned from scaling Machu Picchu!
Neil’s first steps in HR came in an in-house role with a major engineering firm in the west of Scotland. When he moved through to Edinburgh in 2011, he managed to combine academic and professional progress – by starting a job at Gravitate and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management at around the same time.
After 4.5 years in the Edinburgh office, Neil moved to Glasgow in May 2016 to set up Gravitate HR's office in the West of Scotland. This has provided a closer presence to our existing clients in the region as well as allowing Neil the opportunity to focus on expanding the client base in Glasgow.
Beyond HR, Neil’s passion lies on the football pitch. While Scotland may never win the world cup, it’s not going to stop him watching every match (presumably with his fingers firmly crossed).
Greg joined Gravitate HR in January 2019. After completing his MSc in Human Resource Management at Edinburgh Napier University, Greg became an HR advisor for a large outsourcing company working on sites across the UK. Following his role as an Employment Law Advisor, Greg built up a strong knowledge of how the law can impact the HR function of a business. Greg is passionate about building strong relationships with both clients and his colleagues. Greg is also an active member of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development.
Away from work, Greg enjoys meeting up with friends and travelling. An upcoming holiday is always planned.
Seeking to pursue a more HR-focused career, Cameron joined Gravitate HR in August 2016 as an HR Assistant as well as returning to Strathclyde to study for a Masters degree in Human Resources. Using this base of HR knowledge, Cameron has fitted in well to the Gravitate team and is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of expanding the business in Glasgow.
In his leisure time, Cameron is a big sports fan and avidly follows Football, Tennis, and American Football. Although his professional football career never took off, Cameron is looking forward to furthering his career in HR after obtaining his Masters degree and CIPD membership.
Laura started with Gravitate on 29 February 2016. Laura completed her Masters in HR in 2010 and has since then worked in an advisory capacity across public, charity, education and private sectors in London. This has given Laura a solid understanding of different business needs for an effective customer focused HR service.
Laura enjoys and aims to deliver a consistently high level of service and is motivated by the relationships she builds at work. Laura is passionate about her own professional development and is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Outside of work you can find Laura at Murrayfield, cheering on Edinburgh rugby team or on a mountain, climbing in the Summer, or snowboarding in the Winter.

With 24 years experience in HR Rae has worked in the public and private sectors for anything from small businesses to large global corporates. Having worked in local government, police, education, financial services, recruitment and defence she has held generalist roles along with niche roles in employee relations and policy work.
